Study on Password Management Strategies

In this study, the CISPA Helmholtz-Center for Information Security examines end user strategies of password management in cooperation with the Leibniz University Hannover and the Max Planck Institute for Security and Privacy.

Within our study, we are interested in password management strategies end users apply to e.g. memorize passwords, to share them between devices, aids used to ease the management process, and how end users experience password management.

This study includes a diary study, in which participants will be invited to daily chats or interviews lasting for a week, as well as an exit interview a few weeks afterwards to explore their overall impression and assessment.

To conduct our research, we are searching for participants, who would be willing to allow us to accompany their password management for a while and to share their impressions and thoughts with us. All data will be stored securely on our own servers only accessible to members of the research team, and only aggregated data and anonymized quotes may be shared in publications.
